About Cellulite:

 

Cellulite is actually the subcutaneous fat that develops beneath the skin. The fat becomes bumpy in appearance due to the connective tissue which is pushed against it. This results in the skin above the fat to pucker up. Such dimples usually form on the buttocks, thighs and tummy. It occurs in both men and women although, it affects women more. However, this does not mean that it occurs due to the presence of unhealthy fat in women or because of the weight or varied fitness levels, it is mainly genetic. Skinny people also have this problem, so it is not weight related.

The amount of cellulite that one has depends on how poor your diet is, fad dieting, slow metabolism, lack of physical activity, hormone changes, dehydration distribution of body fat and thickness and color of your skin. Those people who have a darker complexion have less visible thigh dimples. With a lighter skin tone, it is more noticeable.

 

Different names are given to the thigh dimples. These include orange peel skin, cottage cheese thighs, bubble legs and chicken skin. Cellulite problem is known to adversely affect the confidence level of those who have it but to help cope with it, one should accept it as a part of the body.

 

How to get rid of Cellulite:

 

Unfortunately there is no known way of getting rid of cellulite but it can be reduced to a small level. There are certain creams and treatments like liposuction, mesotherapy, massage, spa and laser treatments that can be used for this purpose, but it is not guaranteed whether they will actually lessen the effect of cellulite. However, one method that actually helps remove it is to follow a healthy and active lifestyle. Along with this, exercise should be incorporated in the daily routine so that one can find less time to worry about the cellulite problem. Moreover, exercise helps to increase one’s self confidence(specially for mums after baby birth). The key to free your mind from this issue is to feel confident and believe that you are beautiful. With proper exercise and healthy diet, you can tone your legs which will diminish the effect of cellulite.
